Dennis the Russian tortoise came to Noah’s Ark after his owner left for collage, and the parents didn’t want to care for him.  Although certain smaller species of tortoise can make decent pets, their long life span means many are left homeless after their owners don’t want them anymore.  Dennis and tortoises of similar species can live to be 50 to 100 or more years of age and have specific dietary and lighting requirements.  Like most small animals, Denis names up in attitude what he lacks in size and has to be supervised when interacting with other tortoises because he bites them, no matter how large they are!
