Angel came to Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in the worst condition of any parrot we have taken in so far.  He was rescued from an abandoned house where dogs and cats, along with other parrots, were left alone for weeks and lived in squalid conditions.  Parrots are extremely intelligent and sensitive animals, and the stress of his abandonment and neglect caused Angel to not only pluck his feathers, but to chew a hole into his chest.  He has been on multiple medications and with positive reinforcement and a lot of enrichment training, he is slowly recovering, but he will always battle with mutilation.  To help keep his brain and beak occupied off his chest and on to healthy chew items, his environment must stay stocked full of toys of varying shapes, sizes and materials.
